Legal / terms of use

Terms of use.

Plain terms for a small lab's website. By using torad.ai you accept them; if you would rather not, do not use the site.

The deed. A the signet that binds it, B the ruled clauses that carry the terms, C the provisional line, struck dashed in amber for what is not yet fixed.

What this is

This site describes work in progress.

Torad Labs is an independent research lab, and this site is work in progress, not a catalogue you can order from. We show the work as it is and do not sell promises.

The numbers here are research figures from our own runs. We mark what is measured apart from what we only believe so far, and forward-looking claims may change.

Torad Etch and Torad Edge are products in development, not yet generally available. Nothing here is an offer to sell, a price quote, or a ship date. Pricing and availability go up on these pages when they are real, not before.

Note. "Generally available" means a product anyone can buy and run, on stated terms. Until then, a name on this site is a research direction, not a shelf.

Art. II

The site is ours, the model is yours

Intellectual property.

You own what you make. The site is ours. A model you build with the tools is yours, weights and all.

what we own

This site is ours.

The text, design, diagrams, the Torad name and mark, and the named methods (Etch, Edge, QGRE, TQ4, and the rest) belong to Torad Labs.

You may read, link, quote with attribution, and share these pages. You may not copy the site wholesale, pass the work off as your own, or use the Torad name to imply we endorse you.

what you keep

A model you train is yours.

A model you train with Torad Etch is yours, weights and all, saved as a file you control.

These terms cover the website, not what you build with the tools. We claim no ownership of your model, your data, or what you do with either.

  • the weights
  • your data
  • your uses
yours to keep

Note. The boundary is the point: ours is the page, yours is what you build. A clause that claimed your model would contradict the company. This one does not.

Art. III

Fair use of the site

Acceptable use.

Use the site for what it is for. There is no long list of forbidden things, only the obvious ones, written down so they are not a surprise.

  1. Do not break it.Do not overload, exploit, or abuse the site. The email sign-up and the on-page chat are rate-limited. Automated traffic gets you blocked.

  2. Do not strip-mine it.Do not try to extract data you were not given. These endpoints serve a website, not a scraper.

  3. Links go elsewhere. The site links to other places we run, like the blog, and to third parties. We are not responsible for content on sites we do not control.

Note. "Rate-limited" means each visitor gets a fair share of requests per minute. Normal reading never hits the limit; a bot pounding the endpoint does.

Art. IV

The fine print

Provided as is.

What we promise (little), what we are liable for (less), and how this changes. Said plainly, so the disclaimer is not itself a trap.

Art. IV.1 Warranty

The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. It is a research lab's website describing work in progress, not a guaranteed service.

Art. IV.2 Liability

To the extent the law allows, Torad Labs is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or your reliance on forward-looking statements in it. Read the research figures as figures, not as guarantees.

Art. IV.3 Changes

We may update these terms as the lab grows. The "last updated" date at the head of the deed changes when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.

Note. A legal phrase: you take the thing in its current state, with no promise it is fit for any particular purpose. Standard for a work in progress. is not a dodge here. It is an honest label on a lab still building.
